Jute

Jute is a natural fibre obtained from the bark of the jute plant. Jute is mainly grown in India and south Asia. It was originally used for ropes and sacking bags until its application in carpet making evolved.

Jute is one of the most affordable, natural fibres and is second only to cotton in amount produced and variety of uses. Jute fibres are composed primarily of the plant materials cellulose and lignin. Jute is a strong and durable fibre. Its sound and heat insulation, low thermal conduction and anti-static properties make it a wise choice for flooring. Jute fibres are carbon-dioxide neutral, recyclable and naturally decomposable, making them 100% environmentally friendly.
